Post Covid-19 Situation

As per hindu mythology Kalyuga arrived only post Mahabharata war and Mahabharata was sign for the arrival of Kalyuga as the ground work for destruction has been created well in advance. If I have to compare current COVID-19 situation with Mahabharata war then it won't be justified as here we are fighting invisible enemy and it destroys human race without any weapon, it multiplies, kills and spread.  We are helpless as we can't kill it and we can just remorse the loss of our dear one, we can't meet, hug or have anymore face to face discussion and thanks to technology otherwise people would have gone crazy in current situation.

But I firmly believe that after prolonged period of crisis there's a strong desire for rebirth or renewal and it will happen in current situation. It may take time to come back to original shape in term of businesses, economy, countries, or human race in particular. We are left with only one option to fight until we can or cope up with it; or else we tempt to be ignorant of the situation and slowly get resistance to deal with virus or the crisis created by it. And later the Darwin uncle's theory will come into effect i.e. "Survival of fittest"

However, looking at the current situation I don't think life will come to normal soon. In fact there has already been some significant and fundamental changes in the world and many of these changes gradually become permanent. There are few firms who has been booming in this crisis such as Zoom they valued 30% more then pre-crisis, companies in supply chain business, insurance, online gaming & service providers, virtual classroom training, agriculture, healthcare and insurance companies foreseeing double fold growth.

Here are some ways this new world will break with the past:

  • Technology linked to Supply chains :- Blockchain based supply chain will take into shape and most of the producers will directly link to the consumers and its very much started in most of the residential complexes in cities. The tariff and trade wars had stretched global supply chains to breaking point. The virus pandemic broke those chains. Companies will be loathe to trust all the supply from one foreign country or even from outside Local Companies will look to diversify their suppliers and to favor local suppliers, even at higher costs.
  • Boost of Virtual & Online services. Retailers with physical stores were already struggling to compete with online shopping. The shelter-in-place rules forced everyone to shop, work, or play online. As the last online laggards adjusted to online commerce, they will likely not go back. So in-store shopping and commercial real estate will take a hit long-term. Also, the school will adopt virtual classroom for learning instead of investing in huge campus space.
  • Digital divide will become a chasm. Everyone shifted to working and learning online. Those with connectivity and technology jobs and skills could continue working remotely fairly unaffected during the shelter in place order. Access and ability to work online will become even more important and those who are unable to connect online, will fall further behind economically.
  • Home-based, nearby feasible options:- Consumers & producers start looking into the nearby most affordable feasible option to get their products and countries starts investing more in local manufacturing unit then exporting global products. Tier-2 cities like Bangalore, Pune & Hyderabad attracted most of the talents and PG/rental businesses flourished due to large migration of workforce will learn to settle with local rental then migrants. As work from home option gave companies & candidates to get most of it from remote location. Covid-19 situation gave an opportunities to those companies who wanted to adopt remote working since longer time and they have successfully completed the trial run and may consider to adopt remote WFH preferred employees only. Especially, the startups and some SMEs and the trend slowly followed by large companies as well. Eventually, it will give boost to the women employment and empowerment.
  • Healthcare Industry & Insurance companies growth:-  Now, you don't have to expect any spam call from insurance companies as its consumer who will go to them and get themselves registered for the best suited plan. Before the crisis, universal healthcare was still considered a left-of-center view. During the crisis, there was unified view that free testing for all was critical in protecting everyone. As rich and poor got afflicted, it became clear that we need a good health care system, for all.
  • Boost in Agriculture. In India agriculture was considered last resort of employment by youths and it devalued and considered as less profitable institution. But, in current crisis everyone realized that how important is food and farmer. While 60% world is locked down only farming & medical professionals are working and regular on their income. In India when unemployment was at max, it was hard to get anyone to support unemployment benefits or minimum wage. Many college graduates in rural India opted to stay at home then getting interest in agricultural activity now the situation will force them to adopt and grow in agriculture and to governments not providing unemployment benefit for these who are caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, could crater the whole economy for all.
  • Loss of Travel, Luxury cruise vacations:- How long will it take before folks are comfortable going on a cruise again? Or when will homeowners feel comfortable letting a stranger into their house to rent it for a weekend? How long before countries with high infection rate will be deemed clear so their citizens can come visiting as tourists again? It will take some time. My guess is 2 years or more. But by that time we will learn to cope up with the situation and start finding vacation within through spirituality and Yogic knowledge.
  • In effort to boost the mental health many NGO's and humanitarian organization like Art Of Living introduced most of its courses online and reached globally to provide mental vacation and serenity. Through meditational practices they creates same state of mind the one you feel after visiting some exotic vacation.
  • Indoor/Terrace/Kitchen gardening Trend:- . There would be trend for grow and eat your own food, people will put more faith and trust the one they see growing in front of them. And the trend of eating fresh and disease free will start growing which will eventually boost the industry or individuals involved in kitchen gardening and services related to the same. Community based effort will increase and every ornamental plant will be replaced with fruit forest and vegetable/herb garden. Backyard gardening will be trend and we all learn to share and care.
  • No-gulf or oil dominance :- Innovation will take into shape to move away from oil dominance and its clearly vigilant with the current Crude oil price downfall; as per latest news it went below -5$ and countries like US doesn't have enough place to store them which resulted in further crash of oil prices. Gulf-country dominance will be over and everyone will be allowed to work hard to earn money and live happy prosperous life.  Again, the one who adopt the change will survive and grow. There won't be any place for traditional mindset or dominating behavior of some countries who ruled the most part of the world are suffering most. Whole America and Europe failed to get over of this crisis and they are affected mostly then Asia and Africa where most of the population live.

This virus is attempting to fill the gap between developed and developing countries and world map will change based on adaptability and innovation. Innovation doesn't mean the one who comes up with COVID-19 vaccine first but in term of nurturing the mother nature, being more constructive then destructive and rejuvenate, reuse the five element of Nature (Air, water, Fire, earth & ether) without disturbing the natural cycle.

The citizens of a world that has been at war are weary of death and destruction and with peace comes a second chance at life and a tremendous burst of creative energy and economy-building. There is pent-up demand for products and services; folks are eager to get back to work and to invest and to shop. Hopefully, that rebirth is also part of the new world.
